I read a post recently that posed the question: What is your ultimate work outfit? To which many responded, “Anything, with sneakers.”
Workwear has transformed from the usual black-pencil-skirt-and-court-heels in many environments. Whilst there’s a time and place for everything, comfort is becoming a priority, especially in creative industries, and being able to express your sense of creativity through your clothing is more and more embraced.
Most of my meetings take place in coffee shops and other more casual environments. Depending on the client, I sometimes get by with wearing sneakers or ballet pumps, or sometimes I just want to be dressier in heels.
This particular outfit, from Truworths, takes a spin on the classic pencil skirt and white shirt look. By having an interesting white shirt, and a printed skirt, you can still look put together and professional, whilst being fun and fashion forward. Switch up sneakers for pointed heels and you’re good to go for the office!
Whilst I think jewellery should be kept to a minimum in a professional environment, I do like adding little details such as a gold buckle belt to give a more luxe feel. And, for some reason, a pair of spectacles always seem to say “I mean business”.
