When I was younger, I always thought that I would be one of those backpackers, who could live out of my car while road-tripping somewhere along the Amalfi coast. Now that I’m grown up, with my head out of the clouds, I’m appreciative of the finer things in life, like beautiful hotels and, of course, a private bathroom.

During my recent stay in our Mother City, I booked at the Mariott Hotel Crystal Towers. I was rushing, so ended up checking in but only went up to the room later that evening. When I walked in, the room was lit this gorgeous violet. My duvet was opened, with a turndown note and a little something sweet to say enjoy your eve.

It’s the little touches.

The decor is absolutely stunning, to say the least. From the circular rain shower to the tv that electronically comes up from the table in front of the bed (and, of course, goes back down so you can enjoy an undisturbed gorgeous view of canal walk and the mountains out of the floor to ceiling windows). It seems as if everything was thought of.

Aside from the beautiful room, the breakfast and breakfast area was divine too. I usually tend to skip hotel breakfast when I’m in Cape Town (because there are so many amazing places I want to try instead!) but because I was there for a work trip, it was definitely convenient. They have everything a standard continental breakfast has, and more and the staff are friendly and ready to assist.
