Part 2: Makeup

There are certain makeup products, that, no matter how many times I try new and improved versions, I always go back to and buy more. I have drawers full of eyeliners, but there’s only one I always use. I’m testing out a million mascaras at the moment, but there’s that one particular one that I always reach out for because it’s my favourite. Certain products just work for you; here’s my list of makeup products that I constantly repurchase.

5 makeup products I constantly repurchase

Inglot gel liner

Price: R249 (available at Inglot stores and selected Edgars branches)

If you’re looking for the blackest, creamiest gel liner that applies perfectly, this is the one. A lot of people have complained about it drying out quickly, but with me, it always lasts and stays creamy right until it’s completely finished. It lasts for about 6 months (and I wear liner daily!) which is a lot longer than the other gel liners I’ve used. It’s not the cheapest, but it’s worth it for someone like me who loves strong cat eye looks.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion – Original

Price: R320 (available at Urban Decay stores or online at Foschini Beauty)

A few days ago I was in a rush and forgot to apply primer potion. I couldn’t figure out why my eyeshadow looked so incredibly dull, and by the time I remembered, it was too late to redo everything. Less than 2 hours later, my eyeshadow had virtually faded and my eyeliner smudged to the top; this is when I realised that no matter how perfect you do your makeup, what you prime with first will make all the difference. I’ve tried other primers but this is the one I always repurchase – it doesn’t leave a sticky residue and doesn’t make your entire eyelid white like other eyeshadow bases. (I also listed it as one of my top 5 urban decay products, you can check out the post here!)

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge

Price: R130 (available at selected Clicks pharmacies)

This is, hands down, the softest sponge ever. If you’re like me and like applying your makeup with a sponge, this is going to be your new best friend. Whilst I love the original Beauty Blender, it can get expensive to keep buying as they deteriorate quite quickly and it’s even more expensive since it’s not directly locally available. The Real Techniques one is not only more affordable, I find it gentler on my face and even though it’s relatively soft, it has better longevity (if you look after it well you should only need to replace it twice a year!)

Bourjois CC Cream

Price: R299 (available at selected Clicks pharmacies)

I know I’ve spoken about this product a million times on my blog and social media, but I genuinely can’t emphasize just how much I love this product. You can read more about why I love it in this post on Dewy Skin.

False Lash Wings Mascara Sculpt Butterfly Effect

Price: R199,95 (available at selected Clicks and Dischem pharmacies)

If you’re looking for a high-end type of mascara without the hefty price tag, this is for you. This mascara gives you super long lashes whilst volumizing them but not leaving them clumpy at all. It creates a fan like affect and separates and coats each lash so you look like you have thousands of lashes. This was definitely my best mascara of 2016!
