I recently traveled to Paris, and believe me when they say that it’s a fashion capital of the world, they’re not kidding! The locals are easy to spot: impeccably dressed but look like they just threw it on. There were a few trends that I noticed while I was there, that are easy to adapt to inject a little Parisian flair to your Winter wardrobe. Read on for more…
- LEATHER AND WIDE LEG PANTS
This was the number one outfit combination that I spotted all the time. Whether it was styled up with boots or nude heels, or more casual with sneakers, I knew it was something I had to try. With Ramadan upon us, I try and don the headscarf a little more often and opt for more modest clothing, so the looser fit of this is perfect.
2. CONTRASTING FABRICS
Tulle against knitwear, velvet against chiffon, this Winter is all about contrasting fabrics and the Parisian women definitely got the memo. Velvet is having a moment this Winter, and I absolutely love this bodysuit from Spree! It’s such a soft, yet thick velvet and adds such a luxe feel to my outfit.
3. BLACK SUNGLASSES
Black is definitely as chic as it gets, and no one understands that better than the residents of Paris. In fact, we noticed that almost everything short of the buildings was, in fact, black. The traffic lights, most of the cars (especially Uber), the light poles, 99% of the time it was black, and it looked ridiculously glamorous. Black clothing was definitely a common choice, but so were black sunglasses. I usually don’t prefer frames in black against my skintone because it can look a little bug-like, but these Ray-Bans were an absolute perfect pair to take along with me. It matched with literally everything and added that little bit of extra edge to my outfits. These are from The Spectacle Boutique, you can read all about them here.
