September first is dedicated to being the first day of Spring, however, how do we not have a dedicated first day of Autumn? I suppose it’s when you first spot the crunchy brown leaves on the ground, or when it seems to be a perfect summers day, only for a gust of icy wind to knock you over. That, of course, leaves you at a point where you’re not quite sure how to dress. In this particular post, fittingly named Autumn accents, I took contrasting pieces and kind of made it work (well, at least in my opinion). I wanted to challenge the concept of just throwing over a cardi and calling it an Autumn’s Day.
Instead, I went with what I hope will be a classic Winter staple this season, velvet pants and paired it with a luxe blouse that mimics winter blooms with the white and gold (think: orange blossoms).
I love how it’s not classically something I would pick up, because of it’s busy-ness (there’s a lot going on, the cross neckline, the beading, the lace bottom) and yet, it was irresistible. Whilst it may seem like it’s only fitting for the evening, I do think it would work well dressed down with jeans or a leather jacket too. What are you looking forward to wearing this Autumn / Winter?
