I distinctly remember the first time I encountered Lipsy; it was 2008 and my sister Nazmira and I were in London on holiday. It was my first ever trip with just her and it was definitely one of my most memorable trips. London is definitely one of my top 5 favourite cities to visit and I have experienced both Winter and Summer there, and I surprisingly preferred Winter there. I’m the kind of person who could sleep with an electric blanket on in Summer, so I did initially put up a fuss about visiting one of the coldest cities in December, but it was so worth sacrificing on SA’s warm beaches!
Back to Lipsy; we were shopping up the post-Christmas sales on the streets of London when we spotted gorgeous dresses on one of the rails in Selfridges. At the time, I hadn’t heard of the brand, but I quickly learned that their clothing is incredible. We still have the two dresses we bought and they are in mint condition after 9 years.
I think that’s a reflection of what Lipsy London as a brand is like; their clothing is fun and exciting but it somehow doesn’t date. I particularly liked this dress styled in this post because of its versatility. The shade of pink is subtle, and the plainness of the fabric allows you to style it in various ways. It is also a relatively modest dress (with the exception of the back which can be easily altered).
I styled it with a floral bag, nude heels, and sunglasses that will definitely make anyone look twice! They are D&G Rose Gold Swarovski encrusted round sunglasses, available at The Spectacle Boutique on order. I couldn’t help but fall in love with them; I wouldn’t usually style a formal dress with sunglasses but this was an exception.
Visit Lipsy if you’re on the look-out for something exceptionally beautiful and affordable. Rosebank Mall has a stand-alone store, alternatively selected Edgars keep their range.
