Let’s face it, no one does lip wear quite like Lancome. From their iconic Juicy Tubes (that evolved into Juicy Shakers!) to lipsticks that do not budge, they’ve just got the formula all right.

I was recently introduced to the reinvented Lancome L’Absolu Rouge lipsticks, designed by makeup artist Lisa Eldridge, and, boy, was I blown away!

There’s just something about Lancome lippies that’s just… different. Just different. You won’t really know what I’m saying until you’ve experienced them.

With 26 shades ranging from nude to pink to the deepest reds, in both cream and matte finishes, the bright red in a matte finish called Rouge Flamboyant was, of course, my favourite (I can be so predictable sometimes!). I’ve only ever tried the cream finish L’Absolu Rouge lipsticks before, so I was pleasantly surprised that the matte rivaled it so well. I don’t usually go for pink tones in terms of lipsticks, but this one called Rose Lancome is so undeniably gorgeous that it’s hard to put down. It’s the most sophisticated, Parisian pink that you can get your hands on. I would’ve never thought pink could make me feel so grown up!

Jezebel, the deep, burgundy shade is also quite high on my list in terms of all time favourites – deep berry tones are usually reserved for Autumn/Winter months but can be easily worn in summer if you blot it down to a stain for daytime. I by chance discovered a pretty neat trick too: instead of wearing a lip balm underneath liquid lipsticks, I tried wearing a very light layer of this instead. My lips were super duper hydrated for the entire day (because of the luxuriously creamy texture) and my liquid lip lasted much longer than usual. Definitely worth a try!
