FASHION | LAYERING CHOKERS

Oh, hi 90s fashion! I’ve never been much of a sucker for trends, but I’m so inspired by this one. Chokers have been around for a while now and whilst I have been wearing them I realized I’ve barely worn them in any style posts. I recently came across an Instagram image (I unfortunately can’t remember who the poster was!) where she layered her chokers and it looked so incredible, yet so understated. It’s definitely something I’m looking forward to styling this Spring/Summer now that we can shed the neck scarves and turtleneck jerseys.

Here are a couple of brands where you can find the best chokers

Shop Brett Robson (R35)

These chokers are by far the cheapest on the list (even though the other brands have similar ones too) I love the wrap necklaces because of the versatility and variety of colours

MRP (R45 +)

Mr Price tends to be ahead of the game when it comes to affordable style, and although they don’t have any of the trendy chokers, they do have a range of fantastic ones available

Lovisa (R120+)

Lovisa is probably the priciest of them all, but get this: they have an entire section dedicated solely to chokers! Chances are if you’re looking for a specific one, you’ll find it there

Forever21 (R39+)

The gold necklace pictured above is from Forever21, and I love that the chain is adjustable to make it as short or long as you’d like. I love the idea of layering longer necklaces with chokers to give it a bit of a contrast

DIY (as cheap as R5!)

If you saw this style post from this week, you’ll notice that I mentioned that my black choker is labelled as DIY: I literally just found ribbon n sturdy fabric lying around the house and turned it into a choker, as opposed to shelling out cash on something this simple.

Where have you seen chokers lately? Let me know in the comments section below!
