I can barely believe it; we have been blessed with another brand new year to do brand new things. It’s that time of the year where everyone is motivated to becoming their best version of themselves. Where people have a lengthly list of resolutions to tackle in hopes of actually achieving it this time around.

But let’s be realistic, how many of those goals are the same as last year? Probably all, with a few tweaks.

So why don’t resolutions work?

Firstly, because we don’t recognize that we need to break a pattern that we have been doing for years, and it’s not going to happen overnight. It needs a minimum of 21days to overcome, and not seeing immediate results can slip you back into your old ways.

Secondly, we try to do too much at once. We want to lose weight and get fit, do better at school or our job, find a new boyfriend/husband, learn a new language. It’s too much for our brains to cope with. You can tackle everything on that list if you break it up into smaller chunks. Maybe work on a new resolution each month, and reward yourself for achieving those goals.

But really, it all comes down to one thing. One little word:

Proactive

If you remind yourself that you are proactive and can and will achieve whatever you put your mind to, you will prosper.
