The month of Breast Cancer Awareness is upon us, so Secrets and Stilettos will be themed pink for the rest of October.
For my first pink post, I made mini chocolate and sugar doughnuts!
Using this recipe, I literally had them ready for tea in a 20 minutes!
Doughnuts seem to bring out the 3 year old girl in me. I embraced it, by coating my first lot with pink chocolate, pink “fairy dust” and a tiny butterfly (instructions below). These are exceptionally adorable to spoil little girls with (after school treat?)
You need:
- white chocolate (high quality)
- red or pink food colouring
- sugar (light brown works better)
Melt a little chocolate in a SAUCER. This makes it easier to “dip” the doughnuts. Add one drop at a time of colouring, until you reach your ideal pink. PRO TIP: pour the colouring into a teaspoon first if you’re using liquid colouring, this prevents you from adding too much directly to the chocolate.
Dye the sugar using the same method.
Coat one side of the mini doughnut with chocolate, then sprinkle with some sugar and decorate with some edible confetti.
Cinnamon and sugar doughnuts are definitely my favourite, and I learned an easy tip to get the sugar to “stick” to the doughnuts- simply melt some butter, and, using a clean finger rub some butter over the top of the doughnut and dip into the sugar. I mixed in the leftover pink sugar from the chocolate doughnuts- just to add something special!
Perfect weather in JHB for doughnuts today!

Those look awesome! May we please have the doughnut recipe as well? Thanks a stack for your cutesy ideas
