How to combine the hottest nail trends without looking like the cast of Jerseylicious? Ombre nails are extremely in right now. But so is glitter polish and one-different-finger polish. Here’s how to rock all three:
What you need:
- Base coat: I used Yardley in french mani pink
- Gold metallic polish: I used Charlie princess gold
- Midnight or royal blue polish: I used Charlie True Blue
- Glitter/tinsel polish in Gold: I used Essence
- Makeup wedge
- Scrap cardboard
- Nail polish remover and Q-tips
Apply a thin base coat.
Make two stripes using two drops each of the polish onto your cardboard
press the wedge onto the polish, then press firmly onto your nail. Keep going until all nails are complete.
INSIDER TIP: If you’re using your right hand to press the sponge onto the nail polish, continue to use that hand ONLY (even if you’re doing your right nails) else, your ombre with reverse.
It’ll look pretty messy, like this
Clean up around the nails using nail polish remover and Q-tips. If you’re using shimmery polish with lots of tiny specks, you may need to use acitone (I didn’t have, hence the messiness)
Leave as is, OR…
Add three coats (leaving the polish to dry completely between each coat) of sparkly gold polish on one finger to create an accent nail.
Done!
